Values Coalition thanks Balkcom for 'Fairness in Women’s Sports Act'

NC Values Coalition named state Rep. Jennifer Balkcom as a Legislator of the Year 2023 for her sponsorship of a bill that requires sports teams in middle school, high school and college to be designated by biological sex as male, female or coed and bans male students from playing on female sports teams.
Vetoed by Gov. Roy Cooper, the bill, “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act,” became law after the House voted 74-45 and the Senate voted 27-18 to override the veto.
