Here's a roundup of upcoming spring plant sales

Gardeners eager to get started on spring planting have plenty of opportunity to buy bedding flowers, vegetable sets, hanging baskets, houseplants and more as numerous nonprofits hold sales in the coming weeks. Here's a roundup:

 

  • The Blue Ridge Community College horticulture program hosts its public plant sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20 and 27, in the Bullington Greenhouse on the Flat Rock campus. This year’s sale will feature a range of native and ornamental plants including herbs, vegetable starts, succulents, hanging baskets, woody plants and perennials. Payment is accepted by cash or check only. All proceeds benefit Blue Ridge’s horticulture program. 
  • Bullington Gardens, 95 Upper Red Oak Trail, holds its 20th annual spring plant sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25, through Saturday, April 27. Friends of Bullington receive an exclusive early bird shopping invitation. The sale includes vegetable starts, including 15 varieties of tomatoes, unique herbs and pollinator annuals.   • North Henderson High School FFA plant sale: 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
  • East Henderson High School FFA plant sale: 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 4
  • West Henderson High School FFA plant sale: 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
  • Mills River Volunteer Fire Department annual flower & plant sale: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday May 11, main station, 5400 Boylston Highway, Mills River.
