Here are sources of help:
- For general information or questions, call the emergency operations center at 828-771-6670. Do not call 911 about road conditions, trees down, power outages or cell phone outages.
- To start the process for FEMA relief for property damage, go to disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
- To report a missing loved one, call the nonemergency number (above), 211 or the Red Cross, 800-733-2767.
- For the United Way’s clearinghouse of resources, call 211.
- To volunteer, go to hendersoncountync.gov.
As of Tuesday (and while supplies last):
- Interfaith Assistance Ministry on Freeman Street was offering families food boxes via drive-thru service 2-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and accepting donations 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the thrift store on Jack Street and at the food pantry drive-thru.
- The Salvation Army (as of Tuesday) was serving a hot breakfast at 9 a.m. and dinner at 4 p.m.
- The Council on Aging in the King Creek subdivision off Spartanburg Highway was distributing nonperishable food, pet food, household cleaning supplies and hygiene items from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Henderson County and South Buncombe emergency shelters are at Henderson County Athletics & Activity Center, 708 S. Grove St., Edneyville Elementary School, 2875 Pace Road; and WNC Ag Center on N.C. 280.
