Edwards announces committee assignments

U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards will continue to serve on the House Appropriations and  Budget committees and in addition to his seat on the Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee has been appointed vice chair for the National Security, Department of State and Related Programs Subcommittee, his office announced on Wednesday.

“From my seats on the House Appropriations and Budget committees, I will be well-positioned to influence the federal government to budget and spend tax dollars thoughtfully and efficiently,” Edwards sad. “Under a unified government, the new majority has a rare opportunity to reverse our nation’s spiraling debt and create a safer and stronger future for our nation. I’m eager to work with my colleagues to make real changes that will better the lives of the American people and fix how Washington works.”

Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole praised Edwards's record.

“Congressman Edwards has proven that he is a workhorse who understands the grave responsibility that an appropriator has in shaping policies at home and abroad," he said in a news release. "In a short time, he’s used his strong work ethic to drive progress and secure vital investments that impact North Carolina and the nation. It has earned him greater responsibility and I’m confident he will excel in his new role as Vice Chairman of the National Security, Department of State and Related Programs Subcommittee. His strategic approach to federal funding will help strengthen our nation’s standing on the world stage while eliminating government waste, building a more secure and prosperous future.”
