Known for its dynamic performances and genre-defying sound, the band promises an unforgettable evening of music that blends bluegrass, Americana and jazz influences. Comprised of seasoned musicians—Mark Schimick (mandolin), Charles Humphrey III (bass), Sam Wharton (guitar), James Schlender (fiddle), and Gabe Epstein (banjo)—Songs From The Road Band boasts an impressive six-album catalog, including their latest release, Pay Your Dues. Their live shows are celebrated for tight three-part harmonies, improvisational jams, and a mix of original tracks alongside fan-favorite covers.
Each member brings a wealth of experience to the ensemble. Charles Humphrey III, a Grammy-winning songwriter and North Carolina Music Hall of Fame member, previously performed with the Steep Canyon Rangers. James Schlender, a two-time National Fiddle Champion, showcases his versatility across classical, jazz, and bluegrass styles.
“Songs From The Road Band is redefining modern bluegrass with their exceptional musicianship and heartfelt performances,” said Victoria Lamberth, Hendersonville Theatre’s managing artistic director. “We’re excited to bring their high-energy show to our stage.”
The event is part of the theater's Hometown Sound Music Series, which showcases incredible musical talent in an intimate setting at Hendersonville Theatre. May’s Hometown Sound Music Series is sponsored by the city of Hendersonville, the Community Foundation of Henderson County, Hendersonville Community Co-op and the North Carolina Arts Council. The concert lasts approximately 2 hours with one 15-minute intermission. Tickets are $38 and available online at HVLtheatre.org or by calling the box office at 828-692-1082. Groups of 10 or more receive a 10 percent discount.
