During its annual meeting on June 24 at First Congregational Church, the Henderson County League of Women Voters elected Liz Hill as president; Marcella Lesher, vice president; and Lynn McFarland, secretary.
The 2025 Francee Sherman Award winner, Madeleine Cable, read her winning essay to the membership. A graduate of Hendersonville High School, Madeleine will attend UNC at Chapel Hill.
In the past year the League sponsored educational programs on environmental work in the area, dual language learners in the schools, the Henderson County Juvenile Justice Program and the Pathfinders program and supported the Henderson County Public Library in hosting the Smithsonian exhibition "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America."
