No serious injuries reported in morning school bus accident

Emergency medical and law enforcement personnel responded to a school bus accident on Upward Road Tuesday morning. No serious injuries were reported.

School officials and emergency crews responded to Upward Road Tuesday morning after a Henderson County school bus was involved in an accident.

No serious injuries were reported, troopers and school officials said.
The accident happened before 8 a.m. when a Ford van ran a red light near the entrance to Upward Elementary School and collided with the school bus, North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Bingle said.
Bus 221 was transporting students to Flat Rock Middle School and East Henderson High School when the accident happened, Henderson County Public Schools said in a press release.
Bingle said four people, two adults in the van, the bus driver and one student, were transported to Pardee Hospital after the accident.
He and school officials described the injuries as minor.
The driver of the van, 63-year-old Juan Ferias of Hendersonville, was issued citations for failing to stop at the red light and having no operator’s license, Bingle said.
The school system thanked Henderson County emergency medical personnel for their quick response to the accident.
