Bounty of Bethlehem 'reflects the heart of Henderson County'

Volunteers served 1,116 meals during the 43rd annual Bounty of Bethlehem on Christmas Day.

For the 43rd year, Bounty of Bethlehem brought Henderson County together around a shared table on Christmas Day. Focused on community fellowship, event organizers prepared and shared 1,116 meals in a whirlwind span of five hours.

Hosted at the Salvation Army on Third Avenue East, the event’s impact was made possible by about 400 volunteers who contributed over 1,000 hours in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas. These volunteers supported every aspect of the effort, from food preparation and packaging to serving meals and coordinating deliveries.

“Because of our volunteers, every guest was welcomed with care and hospitality,” Bounty of Bethlehem Director Chris Wilson said. “Whether people joined us in person, picked up meals to take home, or received deliveries, the goal was the same: to make sure everyone had a place at the table. We also continued our tradition of providing meals to civil servants working on Christmas.”

For many, the dinner represents more than a meal. It is an expression of community, generosity and shared purpose.

“This event continues to reflect the heart of Henderson County,” Wilson added. “Seeing so many people give their time, resources and energy reminds us how powerful it is when a community comes together with intention and goodwill.”
