Courthouse dome glows pink in honor of Dolly

From the Empire State Building to Buckingham Palace, from Dollywood to Hollywood, from the Grand Ole Opry to Capitol, nations, cities, towns and villages paid tribute to Dolly Parton — Hendersonville, North Carolina, among them.

The dome of the Historic Courthouse glowed pink Wednesday night at dusk to honor the country music legend known for her performing, songwriting, philanthropy and generous spirit.

And now Dolly fans have invited the public to a Dolly Parton tribute from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday on the Historic Courthouse plaza.

"Dolly not only was the Queen of Country Music but she was a true humanitarian with a heart full of love for ALL people and animals alike," organizer Babs Newton said in announcing the candlelight vigil. Bring a small flashlight. And, yes, there will be a DJ playing Dolly's music.
