Artists and craft-makers throughout Henderson County will open their studio doors and invite the community during the annual Henderson County Open Studio Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-18.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet artists where they create, see works in progress, learn about different creative processes and discover original artwork and handmade pieces throughout the region. While the tour is rooted in Henderson County, some participating artists have studios just beyond the county line.

The Open Studio Tour has been a part of the local arts community since 2007, giving visitors a chance to connect directly with the people behind the work and experience the creative spaces where ideas become art.

“This is a chance to get beyond the finished artwork and see where and how it is made,” says Susan Webb Tregay, a tour organizer and participating artist. “You can meet the artists, ask questions, see their process and discover something you might not encounter in a gallery or shop.”

Participating studios will represent a variety of creative disciplines, with opportunities to explore painting, ceramics, sculpture, fiber, photography, printmaking, jewelry and more.

Many participating artists will have artwork and handmade pieces available for purchase, making the weekend a great opportunity to find something unique while supporting local creatives.

This year, visitors use a free tour app to browse artists and filter by medium, find studio locations on an interactive map and create a personalized route. Participating studio locations, artists, hours and a tour map are also available at studio116nc.com/studiotour
