Register of Deeds candidate Lee King raised $6,750 and spent $6,798 in the runup to the May 6 primary, campaign finance records show.
King edged paralegal Evona Kilpatrick but was just under the 40 percent mark needed to avoid a runoff. The two will meet in a runoff on June 24.
Kilpatrick, a longtime employee of the Van Winkle law firm, raised $1,697 and spent $282, according to reports filed the week before the primary.
