The Hendersonville High School Bearcats won their third state championship in volleyball and their 12th overall.
The Bearcats defeated the South Granville Vikings in straight sets (25-17, 28-26, 25-12) to earn their third consecutive N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A volleyball state championship and their 12th in program history. With the win, the Bearcats move to 90-19 all-time in postseason play, according to HighSchoolOT.com. HHS is the winningest volleyball program in NCHSAA history.
"This group had a lot of pressure coming in from the very beginning," Hendersonville Head Coach Erica Cantrell told the website. "Winning two in a row is a big deal and the third is just icing on the cake."
