County seeks input on East Flat Rock plan

EAST FLAT ROCK — Henderson County planners are inviting residents, business owners and homeowners in East Flat Rock to participate in the community planning process for the area.

Residents, business owners and property owners in the planning area are eligible to serve on the committee. The commissioners will appoint nine volunteers who meet those qualifications. Interested persons should complete an application and submit it to the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners as soon as possible.
The Board of Commissioners will begin appointing members at its Feb. 18 meeting. Staff anticipates East Flat Rock committee meetings will begin in the spring.
The planning process typically takes place over an 18-24 month period and uses a variety of means to obtain public input. The committee will use surveys and public input sessions to obtain public guidance in the development of the plan. The plan will address land use and development, community facilities and public services, agriculture, economic development, housing, transportation, community character and design and natural and cultural resources.
The Board of Commissioners previously adopted community plans for Etowah, Horse Shoe, Edneyville, Dana, and Green River-Tuxedo-Zirconia after input from community residents and review by the Planning Board.
