The Park at Flat Rock is looking for volunteer park guides who will patrol the park, answer questions and general serve as ambassadors for a good park experience. The park is taking applications for the volunteer guide positions this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The park guide job provides "an ongoing opportunity to visit the park daily or weekly, for both exercise while walking and meeting people," the Village of Flat Rock said in a news release.

Here's the whole job description:

"Park Guides will be there to answer questions about the Park, Flat Rock, Hendersonville, assist new comers, while providing a friendly face as they walk throughout the park. Park Guides may also assist in special events, such as outings, foot races, and park activities. There is no minimum or maximum hours. The park is open all year; however, no one will be required to be available in inclement weather.

"Volunteers may walk with their friendly dogs or friends while volunteering. This is a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers will be recognized by maroon vests with name tags. Volunteers can have assigned hours for each day, a day of week, or times they wish to volunteer. The park is open from dawn to dusk, so the opportunity to volunteer is open to any time period during daylight hours."

"The Park at Flat Rock is a beautiful tract of land with flora and fauna that presents something new almost daily. While walking on a 1.3 mile trail, with 5 miles of trails to come, visitors will be able to enjoy the striking landscaping, restored creek beds, and beautiful wetlands along with the appreciation that this park is right here in Flat Rock.
