Box office sales surge for James Taylor-Carole King tribute

Big box office sales prompted the Flat Rock Playhouse to extend the Music on the Rock tribute to James Taylor and Carole King for a second week.

Carole King and James Taylor first collaborated more than 40 years with such hits as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Fire and Rain,” “Sweet Baby James” and “You Can Close Your Eyes.” All of these songs and more will be presented when the show opens at the Playhouse Downtown on Thursday, Aug. 6. It now runs through Aug. 16.
Ryan Guerra, who recently appeared in “Always...Patsy Cline,” has performed in the Music on the Rock tributes for Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Kansas, the Beatles and others.
Jane Bunting has performed leading roles in Playhouse productions of “Evita” and “Les Miserables” and sung in several Music on the Rock shows.
Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased by calling the Playhouse box office at 828-693-0731 or visiting www.flatrockplayhouse.org.
