Brevard man loses fight, wins trip to jail

Matthew Hughey

Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a 25-year-old Brevard man with multiple felonies after he allegedly dragged a female victim out of a house by the hair and got into a fight with the homeowner.

Matthew Charles Hughey was jailed without bond after his arrest. Deputies responded at noon Thursday to a report that a man was wrecking property with a baseball bat. The house was on Green Hills Farm Drive in Mills River. Injuries to the female victim and the homeowner injuries were minor and did not require medical attention.  Hughey, however, was arrested and transported to Pardee Hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation.

After treatment, Hughey was booked into the Henderson County jail. He is charged with felony breaking and entering, felony kidnapping and assault on a female. Hughey also has another domestic violence charge pending in Henderson County.
