Sheriff offers emergency prep classes

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is offering two more Emergency Preparedness classes as part of National Preparedness Month.The separate classes, from 10 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, cover a variety of topics and show examples of emergency kits and “bug out bags” along with their contents. Participants will learn how to build an emergency preparedness kit, make an emergency plan and stay informed prior to and throughout emergency situations.

“We want to educate our community so that if there is a disaster, Henderson County residents will be more self-sufficient,” said Sheriff Charles McDonald. “If you can take care of yourself our first responders will be freed up to deal with other issues that arise.”

Seating is limited so reserve your spot as soon as possible. The classes will take place in the training room of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 100 N. Grove St.
