FLETCHER — Fletcher Community Park will host race #4 of the Mainly Marathon series starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12.
More than 100 runners from across the U.S. will be competing in the 7-day marathon race series, covering a total of 183.4 miles. The Appalachian series began Sunday in Bluefield, W.Va.
Runners will complete a marathon for seven straight days, before ending in Alabama. At Fletcher, marathoners will complete 12 laps on a 2.2-mile course that runs through the park and along Cane Creek. The loop or out-and-back courses allow the series to avoid roads and set up one big aid station for runners.
