Mills River to dedicate Thomas A. Bryson basketball court today

The Town of Mills River will dedicate the Thomas A. Bryson Memorial Basketball Court at 6 p.m. today, giving the community a last tribute to a beloved husband, father and neighbor who was murdered one year ago on Thursday. Friends of the Bryson family raised money to build the basketball court in memory of Bryson, who loved to watch basketball games that his sons coached and played.

The public is invited to Mills River Park for a dedication ceremony. After a brief presentation, Mayor Chae Davis will make the court's first official pass to Ben Bryson, who will take the first shot on the court. Ben Bryson is son of West Henderson High School Basketball Coaches Joey Bryson and April Bryson, and the grandson of Thomas A. Bryson.
The West Henderson High School Falcons Boys and Girls basketball players will then play a short exhibition game for attendees to enjoy. All children in attendance will be invited on the court to a shoot-around with the West players after the game. Children will also receive free ice cream from the town courtesy of Mills River Creamery while supplies last.
