What roads will be repaved in Laurel Park?

LAUREL PARK — Laurel Park residents will see a smoother ride on many town roads thanks to $279,000 in repaving and repairs. The Town Council authorized the work as part of a new $2.9 million town budget that keeps the tax rate level at 43 cents per $100 valuation.


Trace & Co. won the job with a low bid of $278,773, beating Tarheel Paving, at $283,409, and JLS Company, at $303,540. The town also will spend $85,000 on storm drainage repairs.
Water bills will inch up in the new fiscal year. The water base rate rises by 25 cents, to $19.25 a month. The sewer base rate doubles from $1 to $2 a month and the sewer usage rate increases by 4 percent, or about $1 for the average household use.
Roads scheduled to be repaved or repaired are Sunny Ridge Road from lower curve to end of road; Sugar Maple Heights, from Indian Woods Trail to beyond Rowland Drive; Rowland Drive, from Sunny Ridge to Sugar Maple Heights; Spring Path, Beechwood Circle; Essowah, from Park to Roberts; Roberts, from Essowah to Rowland; Mulberry Court, Old Laurel (repair), Upper Laurel (repair) and North Park Place (patching).
