Kenmure Fights Cancer raises record $118,000 for Pardee, Advent

The Kenmure Fights Cancer Community raised $118,000.36 this year and has donated $59,000.18 each to AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation and Pardee Hospital Foundation — the largest gift ever given by the group.

Since 2008, Kenmure Fights Cancer has raised more than $456,000 dedicated to the cancer programs at AdventHealth Hendersonville and Pardee UNC Health. The group’s mission is to “remember those we have lost to cancer, honor those who have survived the battle and support those who are struggling today against the terrible disease.” Throughout the year, Kenmure Fights Cancer hosts various fundraising events to raise money to support its mission. The monies raised by these events are divided and donated equally among the AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation and Pardee Hospital Foundation to advance care at each hospital.

This year’s donation to the AdventHealth Foundation will go towards a 3-D Upright Breast Biopsy Unit. Being a more comfortable option for biopsy patients, this unit allows the patient to stand during their procedure, lowers the dose of radiation used, and allows technicians to see more with the 3-D capability. Adding this technology will continue the AdventHealth Cancer Services initiative to provide the safest, most effective care cancer diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients across Western North Carolina.

The donation to the Pardee Hospital Foundation will go towards the purchase and funding of the Mobile Mammography Program at Pardee Hospital. This program will allow underserved and underinsured women the opportunity to receive their yearly mammogram. The Mobile Mammography Program will serve women across Henderson, Buncombe, Polk and Transylvania counties, providing a more accessible healthcare environment for women who cannot take off work for a screening mammogram. Additionally, the Mobile Mammography Program will utilize Women Helping Women funds to provide mammograms to underinsured women in these areas. Taking this program on the road further enforces Pardee’s mission to bring advanced care closer to home, wherever your home may be.

Susan Bush, President of the Board of Kenmure Fights Cancer, presented the $59,000.18 check on Friday, October 4 to the AdventHealth team of Jimm Bunch, CEO, Sherri Holbert, Foundation Director and Megan Dorn, Major Gifts Office. The check was also presented to the Pardee team of Kim Hinkelman, Foundation Executive Director, Karen Yagerhofer, Annual Fund Officer and Jim Brewer, Major Gifts Officer.
