More rain, heavy at times, triggers another flood warning

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the French Broad River at Blantyre on Monday, projecting 1-3 more inches of rain falling on ground already saturated from last week's heavy rain.

The river at Blantyre was at 12.4 feet and expected to rise to 16 feet Tuesday and 17 feet early Wednesday, flooding farm fields and other low-lying land.

Additional rainfall, heavy at times, could fall over the region throughout the week, especially Wednesday night and Thursday, potentially causing more flooding.

The forecast called for showers today and Tuesday with rainfall heavy at times. Clearing is not expected until Friday, when the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 43.
