Organizers call off Farm City Day

Due to the on-going concerns over covid-19 and following the example of other local events such as Garden Jubilee, Apple Festival and the WNC Fair, organizers of Farm City Day announced Monday that the event, usually held on the first Saturday of October, is cancelled this year.

"We sincerely regret missing this opportunity to connect our farmers and community members," organizers said in a news release. "Each year over 10,000 of our fellow Henderson County residents learn how important farming is both culturally and economically to our community locally and the region. We will especially miss seeing the kids enjoying the petting zoo!"

This is only the second time Farm City Day has been cancelled since 1955. The Farm City Day Committee looks forward to 2021 when it hopes to bring back the event better than ever. In the meantime, the committee urged the public to visit local farm stands and remember to buy local.
