The Democratic and Republic nominees for the 11th Congressional District seat made vacant by the resignation of now-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows will hold three debates over the next seven days.
Republican Madison Cawthorn and Democrat Moe Davis will meet at 7:30 Friday night at Western Carolina University’s Biltmore Park campus and 7:30 Saturday night at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee in the Best in the West public forums. The forums are being hosted by Smoky Mountain News, Blue Ridge Public Radio and Mountain Xpress and will be livestreamed on Blue Ridge Public Radio’s Facebook page.
The candidates will meet again Wednesday, Sept. 9, in a forum hosted by Southwestern Community College. Dr. Bucky Dann’s Social Problems class at SCC will question the two candidates. The debate is not be open to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed by Gov. Roy Cooper. The college will provide live streaming video here.
