The Kenmure Fights Cancer program continued its commitment to supporting cancer care by donating $37,500 to the AdventHealth Foundation this year.

This year’s donation from Kenmure Fights Cancer is designated for the purchase of a new slide stainer to enable more efficient cancer diagnosis for patients of AdventHealth Hendersonville. A slide stainer assists a pathologist with diagnosing and staging a mass, which indicates the treatment plan for a patient. With their care team utilizing a more efficient technology, patients experience a shorter wait time for results.
“Our Cancer Services team is so grateful for Kenmure Fights Cancer and its direct support for our patients,” said Director of Oncology Services Lisa Gundersen. “Their generosity this year means we will have new technology to enhance the workflow for the pathology and diagnosis process. That means faster results to our doctors, faster answers for our patients, and, if it is cancer, faster activation of a treatment plan for our patients.”
Since 2008, Kenmure Fights Cancer has raised more than $527,000 for the cancer programs at AdventHealth Hendersonville and Pardee UNC Health. The group hosts year-round fundraising events to support its mission “to remember those we have lost to cancer, honor those who have survived the battle and support those who are struggling today against the terrible disease.” Each year, Kenmure Fights Cancer equally divides its monies to benefit the AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation and the Pardee Hospital Foundation to advance care at each hospital.
