Timothy Austin Owenby, 61, of Edneyville, NC passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, December 22, 2017.
He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, the son of
Clifford Owenby of Edneyville and the late Mabel Frye. He was a 1974
graduate of Edneyville High School and a 1976 graduate of Blue Ridge
Community College School of Mechanics. He was employed by Southeastern
Container in Enka, NC as a Maintenance Mechanic for 33 years.
Tim was a master mechanic with an uncanny ability to fix anything and everything.
A true family man, he was his father’s “right hand man” and
loved playing hide and seek with his grand kids and taking them on
tractor rides.
He was a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his father, are his loving wife of 38
years, Donna Williams Owenby; his daughter, Christal Beaird and her
husband, Ray, of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two grandchildren, Brooklynn and
Liam; a sister, Jean Heatherly, of East Flat Rock; a brother, Frank
Owenby, and his wife, Linda, of Dana; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Mountain
Home Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Garren officiating. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour
prior to the service in the church and at other times will be at the
home.

Sandra Robinson Lane, 59, of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2:52 PM.
She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Robinson.
She grew up in Falls Church, Virginia and graduated from Jeb Stuart High School.
She was a member of the Hendersonville First Baptist Church where she was a secretary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Larry Lane; her daughter, Heather Lane of Hendersonville, NC; her son, Lee Lane and his wife Cookie of Hendersonville, NC; five grandchildren, Destiny, James, Logan, Alyssa and Haley; her mother, Margaret Robinson of Burlington, NC and two sisters, Resa Daniel of Burlington and Gail Richards of Washington State.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 30th at the Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Mark Daniel McGraw, 40, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home.
Mark was a native and lifeloong resident of Henderson County. He graduated North Henderson High School in 1995 and he went on to further his education receiving his bachelor’s degree from Gardner-Webb University. Mark had a huge heart for people and he touched the lives of everyone that he came in contact with.
Mark shared a love of hot rod cars and car shows with his dad, Tony and their friends and often could be found under the hood of his 69 Chevy Nova.
He will be missed immesely by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Becky McGraw; three daughters, Stephanie Trantham, Amanda Jarzyna and Katie Saffer; two sons, Jackson and Chase McGraw; his parents, Sam and Barbara McGraw of Hendersonville and Kris and Randy Gillis of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters, Carrie and Tim Israel of Hendersonville and Karla and Jason Haffey of Gurnee, IL; a brother, Stephen and Jenny McGraw of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Ella, Josie and Natalie; and multiple foster grandchildren; seven nieces, Sierra, Meredith, Amy, Hannah, Mina, Amelia and Mckinley and two nephews, Trey and Karson.
A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 29th at Mud Creek Baptist Church where he was a member. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM in the church.

Larry Steven “Fly” Morgan, 64, of Mills River, NC passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Mountain View Assisted Living.
He was raised in Mills River and was the son of the late Myrtle
Lee “Bee” Morgan and Albert Morgan. He was also preceded in death by a
brother, O’Dell Morgan.
He had worked at Cranston Print Works for over 30 years and Eaton Corp.
Fly enjoyed his animals, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Bailly of Raeford, NC
and Stacy Morgan of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Gavin and Bryce
Bailly and Kayden, Kyrah and Karson Rilea; three brothers, Gary and
Wayne Morgan and Gene Moore and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 31st at
the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Keith
Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service
in the chapel.

William David Harrelson, 87, of Hendersonville, passed away at the Elizabeth House Tuesday, December 19, 2017 following a valiant struggle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, the son of the late Robert Curtis and Loretta Thompson Harrelson.
He was a warm, caring person that could converse with anyone and never met a stranger. Being around family was a highlight for this man called David, Dad or Paw Paw. His great sense of humor, quick wit, silly jokes and stories for every occasion will be greatly missed. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fishing was a hobby that he shared with his grandchildren through the years. Much of his time was spent outdoors doing yardwork, gardening or growing small fruits.
He was a member of Arden Presbyterian Church. His career was in sales and retail, working for a number of years as Belk’s assistant manager. After retiring, he worked at General Electric in Hendersonville.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris Lancaster Harrelson; children, Yvetta Nix (Edwin) of Hendersonville, Davon Harrelson (Pam) of Greenville, SC, and Kim Geffers (Randy) of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Brent Nix (Sara), Natalie Van Pelt (Brad), Tyler Nix (Mandy), Julie Worley (Bryan), Justin Harrelson (Taylor), McKenna Geffers and Colson Geffers; great-grandchildren, Kenley, Greer, Katelyn, Liam, Claire, Cyrus, Caleb, Cypress, Keira and Andy; sister, Patsy Johnston; and brother, Bob Harrelson.
A funeral service will be at 2:00pm Saturday, December 23, 2017 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Davon Harrelson officiating. She is survived by two sons, Michael Lyda of Travelers Rest, SC and Brian Cantrell of Bartow, FL; two granddaughters, Hannah and Michelle Lyda and a brother, David Dill of Hendersonville.

William Burl “Bill” Robinson, 85, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017.
He was born and raised in Mitchell County, NC and was preceded
in death by his wife, Rachel C. Robinson, his parents, Marvin and Venie
Biddix Robinson and a daughter, Cathy Brown.
He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne, a member of the
Hendersonville Elks Lodge #1616 and a member of the Hendersonville First
Baptist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, reading, boating, camping and watching old westerns.
Bill is survived by three children, Robbie Robinson and his wife
Lana of Tucson, AZ, Tammy Sama and her husband John of Hendersonville,
NC, Steve Robinson and his wife Heidi of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren,
seven great grandchildren and seven siblings, Marlene, Betty Ann,
Donald, Ernest, Phillip and Sheila.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 3:00
PM at the Hendersonville First Baptist Church Chapel with a celebration
of life following with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating.

Guy William Snider 75, of Flat Rock went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 06, 2017 at the Elizabeth House after a lenthy illness
He was the son of the late Paul William and Beulah Black Snider. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffery Dale Snider, his maternal grandparents Guy and Irene Black his paternal grandparents, Bry and Bessie Cater and a brother and sister Billy and Judy Snider.
A brick mason / builder, Guy was a jack of all trades. He loved to fish and coach baseball.
He especially loved watching his grandsons play baseball and soccer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Ethel Frisbee Snider, a daughter Carolyn Parris Hall and her husband Gregg of Pisgah Forest NC, four grandchildren, Ethan Hall of Pisgah Forest, Caleb Hall of Pisgah Forest and his girlfriend Deana Belcher of Fletcher, Bret McKenzie Snider and Drew Clark both of Hendersonville, three sisters, Martha Whitman and her husband Rev. Raymond Whitman of Six Mile, SC, Faye Stancil and her husband Charles and Janice Ramey and her husband Larry all of Central, SC and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Service will be held Saturday December 09, 2017 at 2 PM at Tracy Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Gravely and Doug Carroll officiating. Ethan Hall, Caleb Hall, Chuck Grant, Clyde Amos, Thomas Henderson and Steve Parris will serve as Pallbearers and Larry Ramey and Robert Henderson will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Atha Arrowood Wooten (Marie), passed away on December 3rd, 2017. She was born July 27, 1924 in the majestic mountains of Yancey County, NC.
A loving and strong willed woman took flight this past Sunday. She left behind two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and a plethora of great grand children, great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. When asked once how she wanted people to react to her passing, Atha Marie replied, “I want them to have a party...”. How can we celebrate living without celebrating our greatest adventure.

Nancy Gayle Orrell, 62, of Flat Rock, NC passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 peacefully at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vietnam War Veteran- James Edward Orrell, a daughter, Melissa Stumpf, a brother, Roger Lee Perry and her father, Dick Perry.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel May Perry of Spotsylvania, VA; a sister, Patti Perry of Spotsylvania, VA; three children, Mandolyn Orrell of Hendersonville, NC; Ed Orrell of Candler, NC and James Adam Orrell of Indianapolis, IN; Gary Stumpf son in law of Flat Rock, NC.; nine granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held locally. Her final resting place will be in her hometown of Spotsylvania, VA.

Heather Lyda Moore 35 of Hendersonville died unexpectedly Sunday at
Mission Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles "CD"
Lyda and Brenda Edwards Livingston. She is survived by her children
Hunter, Hannah and Haylea
whom she was so proud of and her sisters Penny Darby, Crystal Lyda and
Kelly Sharp.

Nellie A. Justice 80, of Hendersonville went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday November 18, 2017 from her home with her family gathered by her side.
She was the daughter of the late John and Alma Searcy Frisbee and step mother Flora McDaniel Frisbee and wife to the late Rev. Claude Alfred Justice. She was preceded in death by one daughter Vickie Lynn Justice and a nephew Jeffrey Dale Snider.
Nellie was a member of Union Hill Holiness Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and was also a babysitter to many many children through the years whom she loved dearly. Nellie was faithful to her family and to God.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Carroll and her husband Rev. Doug Carroll, three grandchildren, Justin Carroll, April Bishop and her husband Chris and Courtney Carroll, five great grandchildren, Austin Carroll, William (Corley) Carroll, Emily Bishop, Gracie Bishop and Logan Bishop, two sisters, Frances Grant and Ethel Snider and her husband Guy, one neice Carol Hall and her husband Greg, two nephews, Greg Grant and Chuck Grant and his wife Leah.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday November 21, 2017 at 2PM in the Chapel in the Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with the Rev. Doug Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. William Harley "Bill" Young, Jr., 70 of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with the Lord Tuesday November 7, 2017.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Young, Sr. and Marjorie G. Young, and a brother Thomas Young.
He was a truck driver and retired from ABF after many years of trucking. He is survived by a nephew, Parker Young of Florida, step-sons Brian Ward and his wife Lisa, and Shane Ward of Hendersonville, several step-grandchildren, step- great grandchildren and many good friends, especially Bobcat, Doug, Fat Albert, Ken, and Lori.
Bill loved sports and cars. He pulled for the Atlanta Braves and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. of Nascar. He was loved very much and will be missed for his sweet smile and caring spirit.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jackson Funeral Service, Hendersonville, NC.

Kay Blackwell Justus, 59, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Momma Kay was a native and life long resident of Henderson County and was a true servant of Jesus Christ.
She exemplified the true meaning of love and forgiveness.
She was a member of Dana Baptist Church and owned and operated Kaydan Insurance Agency.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.
Momma Kay is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, James
Justus; her parents, Rev. Dan Blackwell and Marie Orr Blackwell of
Hendersonville; four children, Shawntay Cox and her husband Billy of
Hendersonville, Dotty Parker and her husband Jeremy of Hendersonville,
John Lively and his wife Jessica of Huntersville, NC and Jennifer Lively
of Hendersonville; ten grandchildren, Skyler, Sahara, Grayson, Landon,
Sierra, Memphis, Zoe, Jace, Jax and Joleigh; her brothers, Danny, David,
Tommy and Steve Blackwell and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 11th
at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Smith officiating. Burial
will follow at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will

Kenneth P. Hake 83 of Hendersonville NC, passed away Friday November 03, 2017 at the Brian Center.
Born in Campbell, KY, Ken was the only son of the late Lester and Allyne Hake.
Ken grew up with the love of music in his heart, he went to the University of Kentucky on a music scholarship playing the C trumpet. Ken played Taps for fallen soldiers while he was at collage. Ken always said his blood was Kentucky Wild Cats blue all the way! He loved his Kentucky basketball team.
Ken got a degree in engineering, went to work at Gulf Refinery in Cincinnati OH, where he worked for several years. Ken then transferred to Dow Corning in Carrollton, KY in the Safety and Loss Prevention Department as supervisor and the sight Ergonomics. This is where he met his wife Barbara of 28 years, he retired in 1998.
Ken also served as a deacon, was a EMT and a member of a barber shop quartet and was an avid golfer.
Ken and his wife retired to Hendersonville, NC 21 years ago. He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for several years. He was part of the disaster relief team until he had a hip replacement that took him to the sideline.
Survivors in addition to his wife Barbara are, two sons, Jeff Hake and Steve Hake both of IN, one daughter Kelly Bridges of IN, two step sons, James Walker of Ghent KY and Ronnie Walker of Pensacola, FL, and several grandchildren.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held 3 PM Friday November 10, 2017 at Mud Creek Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

George Edward Freeman III, 62, of Zirconia, NC passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Elizabeth House.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and
was the son of the late Robert and Virginia Padgett Freeman. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Sabrina Fisher Freeman and a
granddaughter, Mallory Freeman.
He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church where he was saved
and baptized. He owned and operated Freeman’s Professional Services.
He is survived by two sons, English and Melanie Freeman of
Tuxedo and Brooks Freeman of East Flat Rock; two sisters, Evelyn Vaughn
of Tuxedo and Robbie and Wayne Morgan of Tuxedo; a granddaughter, a
grandson on the way and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of George’s Life will be held 3:00 PM Thursday,
November 2nd at Mud Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive
friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the church and at other times
will be at the home of Robbie and Wayne Morgan.
