Paramedics took four people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday after a car crashed into the M&M Meat Market on Asheville Highway.
Two customers in the market and two people in the car were injured in the accident, M&M owner Ronald Henderson said.
Henderson’s wife, Laura, was working behind the market’s register Saturday morning. She said it was a miracle she wasn’t also hit when the car came crashing through the front of the store that faces Asheville Highway.
Ronald Henderson said he thought the car was hit on the highway before it was pushed into the meat market.
The crash left broken glass from the building and broken meat sauce bottles scattered across the interior of the building.
The Hendersons said they plan to reopen as soon as they can clean up and make repairs to their business.
Hendersonville Police Department officers and Hendersonville Fire Department first responders were dispatched at about 11:20 a.m. to the meat market at 1825 Asheville Highway after the incident, according to city officials.
Paramedics from Henderson County Emergency Medical Service later took four people who were injured at the meat market to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The police department is investigating the cause of the crash, but initial information leads them to believe it was an accident, the city said.
