Galina “Lina” Stein, 66

Galina “Lina” Stein, 66, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents: Tolubaev Vasiliy Andreevich and Slutskaya Ljubov Aronovna.

Lina was born in Sverdlovsk, Russia on May 20, 1948 as an only child. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree with Graduate Studies from the University of Moscow. Lina was a seasoned traveler and during her life she was able to visit all seven continents. Early in her career she was employed at the Iraqi Embassy in Moscow and subsequently as a multi linguist and simultaneous translator in Moscow.

In 1990, Lina moved to the United States and worked as a travel agent in Brooklyn, NY. On March 24, 1994, Lina married William J. Stein in Cincinnati, Ohio and they settled in Hendersonville, NC a short time later. Lina obtained her American citizenship in June, 1998.

Lina is survived by her loving and devoted husband, William Stein, her son, Ilya Anourov and his wife Anastasia Anourov of Moscow, his former wife, Katya Anourov, Lina’s grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Stefania, and Sofia Anourov of Moscow and her stepdaughter Lisa Stein of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was also very close to her brother in law Robert H. Stein and his wife Joan of Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Thos. Shepherd & Son Church Street Chapel with Reverend Dan Martin officiating.
