Marilyn Mullis Daniel

Marilyn Mullis Daniel, 97, of Hendersonville and formerly of Brevard, a remarkable woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Elizabeth House following a long illness.

Born in Charlotte, NC to the late Archie F. and Genevieve C. Mullis, Marilyn's life was a testament of dedication to family, community, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Growing up in Charlotte, Marilyn was a spirited tomboy who delighted in playing baseball, roller skating, and riding bicycles with J.F. and the other neighborhood boys. Her adventurous spirit was nurtured during cherished visits to her paternal grandparents' farm in Marshville, NC (Union County), where she developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and gardening, especially mowing the grass.

Marilyn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Queens College in Charlotte, which led her to a fulfilling career as a bacteriologist for Biltmore Dairy. Her professional accomplishments were matched only by her devotion to her family and community.

A woman of faith, Marilyn was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and dedicated countless hours to volunteering at her children's schools, Longview Community Church, and with the Boy and Girl Scouts. Her commitment supporting and motivating other women to be successful was evident in her role as a devoted member to P.O.E. International for over 50 years, in Longview, WA and in Hendersonville, where she was a founding member of Chapter BF. Marilyn's favorite color was blue, a reflection of the calm and steady presence she brought to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her husband, Howard G. Daniel; sisters, Betty Finesey and Francis Velletri; and great-grandchild, Scout.

She is survived by her loving children: daughter, Deborah A. Daniel of Hendersonville; sons, Howard G. "Dan" Daniel, Jr. (Phyllis) of St. Helens, OR, and David L. Daniel (Carrie) of Wenatchee, WA. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Brian, Nathan, Nicholas, Genna, and Gavin Daniel, and her great-grandchildren, Gracy, JayLee, Bo, Kody, Isak, Vienna, Nicholas Jr., Samantha, and William.

A graveside service to celebrate Marilyn's life was held at 11 AM on Friday, June 20, at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville. In honoring her memory, we remember a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Marilyn's spirit will forever inspire those she leaves behind.
