Gloria “June” Eastman

Gloria "June" Eastman, 87, of Hendersonville, died on Monday, March 4, 2013.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on a "glorious" June day in Eastborne England according to the family story. Her parents were the late Alban Bernard Chasey and Viola Chasey of England.

She arrived in the United States as a World War II "war bride" in 1946 married to the late Philip W. Eastman for 60 years. The joy in her life was to plan family holiday gatherings. Her hobbies were baking and needlework as well as being a Girl Scout leader and volunteer for local hospitals and nursing homes. She adored her special pets that she had rescued.

Surviving are brother John Chasey of Bedford, England, two daughters: Jane Schneble of Hendersonville, Jill Hindman of Ocala, FL and a son David Eastman of New York in addition to four grandchildren: Master Sergeant Mathew Kanter of the United States Air Force, Elizabeth Rule of Florida, Heidi Schneble of Washington, D.C., Dr./Captain Erika Schneble of the United States Air Force and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in England.
