Rose Voneta Schenk Sams, 94

Rose Voneta Schenk Sams, 94, of Hendersonville, died on
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her home.

A native of Beloit, OH she was born
to the late John Jacob Schenk and Nannie M. Baker Schenk. She was also
preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, G. Paul Sams.

She graduated from Beloit High School in Beloit, OH as valedictorian,
class of 1937 and has lived in Hendersonville for the last 30 years.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Hendersonville, active
in the PTA, Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, various church committees and her
children's schools in her younger years.

She is survived by her three sons, Gary P. Sams and his wife, Ruth of
Brooklyn, NY, Dale E. Sams and his wife, Jackie, of Cumberland, MD, Tony
W. Sams and his wife, Michele, of Shelby, NC; her two daughters, Jane E.
Ballinger and her husband, Steve of Christchurch, New Zealand, Beth N.
Gidley and her husband, Scott, of Austin, TX; her 14 grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, J. Stanley Sams and his wife,
Irene, of Sebring, OH; her sister-in-law, Eunice Sams Close of Beloit, OH
and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at
the First Congregational Church of Hendersonville with Reverend Richard
Weidler officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First
Congregational Church, 1735 5th Ave West, Hendersonville, NC 28739 or to
the charity of the donor's choice.
