Walter (Walt) I. Rogers, 98, passed from this earthly life on Feb. 19, 2014.

He was living in Hendersonville.

Walt lived a happy, rewarding life in N.J., working until his retirement to Cape Cod, Mass., in 1975. His life at home was dedicated to his family­­ — his wife Melda, and their two children, Carey and Lynn­­ — and house restoration and gardening.

Walt's working life centered around the welding trade where he became widely recognized and praised­ — crafting parts for early television and space exploration.

Retirement on Cape Cod was what gave Walt the most pleasure — sailing on Cape Cod Bay, gardening organically, and sharing his life with his beloved Melda.

At peace now, Walt leaves loving families, two granddaughters, a son-­in­-law, significant­-others, and a bundle of nieces and nephews. Amen.
