Maxine Milner, 89

Maxine Milner, 89, of Hendersonville died peacefully at home on July 4, 2014.

Maxine was born Feb. 23, 1925, to the late William Samuel Early and Mayme Cline Early. She was also preceded in death by her husbands James Dudley Rogers, MD, in 1959, and Dr. Gerald G. Pumplin in 1991, and her brothers Ralph Early and Edward Norton Early.

Maxine spent her youth in Kentucky before moving to Michigan in 1945. She was a resident of Hendersonville for more than 30 years.

Maxine is survived by her husband Robert G. "Bob" Milner; two daughters, Landra Rogers of Gaineville, Fla., and Paula L. Pumplin (Martinus C. de Boer) of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, the Netherlands. Other survivors include her grandchildren Bryan Slatner of Charlotte, Gregory Slatner of Weston, Fla., and Emma de Boer of Alkmaar, the Netherlands; great-grandchildren Luka Slatner and Eliana Slatner; her brother J. Don Early of Clearfield, Ky., and nieces and nephews in Kentucky, Rhode Island, Florida and Iowa.

Maxine served as a hospice volunteer from 1981 until 1988. Her hobbies included bowling, reading and cooking. She and Bob enjoyed numerous trips to faraway places. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Four Seasons hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided during Maxine's final illness.

A graveside service will be held in Michigan.
