Kelly McKeown Siltzer, 45, of Hendersonville died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Duke Medical Pavilion in Durham following a three-year battle with leukemia.
Born in Union, SC, Kelly graduated from Union High School in 1986 and completed the culinary arts program at South Seattle Community College in 1994. She most recently worked as a dental assistant at Hodges and Hodges Comprehensive Dentistry in Asheville. A member of Mills River United Methodist Church, she was also a volunteer with the church's Life Enrichment Center for senior adults.
She is survived by her husband, Jay, and son, Malachi, of Hendersonville; her parents, Walter O. and Mary McKeown; brother, Niel McKeown and his wife, Wendy; sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Victor, all of Union; and two nephews and two nieces.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Holcombe Funeral Home in Union, SC.
An additional visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Mills River United Methodist Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m.Thursday, July 17, at Mills River United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ed Hillman, Ashley Crowder Stanley, Paige Ann Miller and Fr. Namdev Dagam officiating. Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors. A reception will follow.
