Henderson County will recognize the 70th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day throughout the week of May 3 through May 8.
On Monday, May 4, the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance led by veterans of WWII and a short video presentation. Throughout the week, military flags will be flown at the Historic Courthouse. On Friday, May 8, music and sound clips from VE Day speeches will play at the Historic Courthouse courtyard.
Henderson County invites all its citizens, especially those WWII veterans and their family members, to participate in these activities. The county asked World War II vterans to join the meeting on Monday, May 4, if they would like to assist in leading the pledge.
