D9 Brewing Co. opens on Main Street

D9 Brewing Co. has opened in the old Swanson's organ and piano store space, becoming the first microbrewery on Main Street since the craft beer boom started 10 years ago.

The brewery at 425 N. Main St. features a long bar and open-to-the street seating that gives customers a great people-watching view to go with their brew. After opening on Friday, D9 began serving its own beer and other guest beers from 12 taps. Flavors on tap include a Swell Rider Tangerine Session and two other IPAs, a Brown Sugar Brown Cow ale, Into the White wheat beer, a Paranormal Porter, Pinch of Salt Lemon Chiffon, Defying Gravity Wormhole mojita-style sour in a 10-ounce snifter, Ezekial 25:17 Black Sour and others. D9 also sells four-packs to go and growlers. 

The brewery will offer signature and limited releases from D9, as well as ciders on tap and wines from partner brands and will sell coffee from Main Street Coffee, the Lightning reported in February. D9 becomes the sixth craft brewpub in the downtown area and the first on Main Street.

The partner coffee business is expected to open later this week. Serving Main Street Coffee, the cafe will be open from 7 to 11 a.m.

Founded in 2014, D9 Brewing has continued to stand out from the craft beer pack by having an innovative business model that allows rapid and strategic growth in the highly disruptive beer industry, the company says. Born of a shared passion for the science and community of craft beer, the founders of D9 Brewing began their journey like most — in their garage. After almost six years, they graduated to a small commercial facility before going on to create D9 Brewing's first production location in 2014. After winning multiple prestigious medals in coveted sour beer categories, D9 became one of the Charlotte area's largest breweries.
