Carwash opens with a splash

Customers lined up by the hundreds for a free carwash — clogging the roads — as the new Mountain Express opened on Friday.

The carwash, the second in town owned by Jeff Justus and his son, Lex — is on Spartanburg Highway at Shepherd Street. Traffic backed up on Shepherd Street in both directions as word got around about the freebie. The Justuses opened the first Mountain Express carwash on Chimney Rock Road across from Highland Square shopping center.

On Friday, the carwash known for its free vacuums announced its grand opening and invited motorists to "come out and get a $25 carwash for free!"
