7 Brew coffee shop opens at site of former Kelsey’s restaurant on Spartanburg Highway

The new 7 Brew drive-thru coffee shop opened Monday on Spartanburg Highway.

Hendersonville’s new 7 Brew drive-thru coffee shop opened Monday morning with people lining up in their cars and on foot at the business on Spartanburg Highway.

“It was just crazy when we got here. It was really busy,” Manager Hannah Fisher said of the coffee shop’s opening at 5:30 a.m.
By the time she took a short break at around 9:30 a.m., cars continued to fill both lanes of the double-laned drive-thru where workers stood outside taking and delivering orders.
Others parked and walked up to the shop for their drinks while a group of young people gathered around a table sitting just outside.
A grand opening Swag Day for 7 Brew is planned for Saturday with free T-shirts for customers who buy a large drink. Workers plan to dress in disco attire for the day, Fisher said.
7 Brew was founded in 2017 in Northwest Arkansas. By 2020, it had grown to seven stands, according to information on the company’s website. 7 Brew was purchased in 2020 by an entrepreneurial group that operated the company as Brew Culture LLC. The new 7 Brew leadership team embraced the brand’s purpose to cultivate kindness, revamped drive-thru operations, modernized the menu, and most importantly, created the legendary “Brew Crew” culture that serves more than one million drinks per day, the website said.
The menu at the 7 Brew location in Hendersonville offers a variety of coffees, energy drinks, teas, sodas, shakes, smoothies and lemonades.
The shop also sells muffin tops to guests looking for something to snack on with their drinks, Fisher said.
The business at 840 Spartanburg Highway stands on part of the property where the Kelsey’s restaurant was once located. Kelsey’s closed in 2011 and briefly reopened under the leadership of the owners of the Mills River Family Restaurant on N.C. 191 before closing again. The restaurant was demolished in 2025.
Ken Gordon and his brother, Michael, bought the property through their Bickering Brothers, LLC from Hendersonville businessman and restaurant owner Bob Quattlebaum shortly before the pandemic in 2019. Quattlebaum continues to own Binion’s Roadhouse in Hendersonville.
7 Brew occupies what was the parking lot area of Kelsey’s while the remainder of the Kelsey’s property remains open and available for development.
Opening the 7 Brew coffee shop took 10 months for permitting and building, Gordon said.
“It was quite a process,” he said.
Gordon said he hopes to get a cup of coffee at the business soon.
“Hopefully, they will do real well,” he said.
7 Brew in Hendersonville is open Sunday-Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
