Penny named to insurance panel

Will Penny

Hendersonville business owner and independent insurance agent Will Penny of Penny Insurance Agency, Inc. has been named to the North Carolina Department of Insurance Property & Casualty Agent Advisory Committee for 2013-2014.

The North Carolina Department of Insurance provides valuable services to the people of North Carolina by regulating the insurance industry, licensing insurance professionals and others, educating consumers about different types of insurance, handling consumer complaints and more.
In 2009, NCDOI Commissioner of Insurance Wayne Goodwin established the Property and Casualty Agent Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Property and Casualty Agent Advisory Committee is to give the Commissioner of Insurance and the agent community a chance to come together to discuss matters that affect the insurance industry and consumers in the state of North Carolina. Agents and industry experts are given an opportunity to meet face-to-face with insurance industry representatives to discuss the regulatory process and other issues surrounding the business of insurance in North Carolina.

Advisory committee members are independent and captive agents and insurance experts selected from three regions — East, Piedmont and West — who are appointed by the Commissioner of Insurance. The new committee is scheduled to meet four times a year. "I'm honored to have been asked to serve," Penny said in a news release. "I look forward to sharing what I learn in Raleigh with our clients here in Western NC."
