Dunkin' has found a site for a fourth store in Henderson County to sell its signature donuts and coffee.
Property owner Rick Moore of Mills River has filed an application with the county planning department to build a new 2,230-square-foot building on Asheville Highway at South Naples Road next to the Naples Post Office. A dilapidated brick structure on that corner would be removed. Plans for the new retail space include 16 parking spaces, a drive-thru and three driveway cuts.
Moore bought the property 5420 Asheville Highway in October 2021 for $577,200, county land records said. Valued on the tax books at $952,500, the 1.9-acre parcel includes the post office, which is leased to the postal service.
The Asheville Highway location would give Dunkin' stores in four corners of the greater Hendersonville area. Other locations are on Upward Road, Chimney Rock Road and Spartanburg Highway.
Moore said "we're hoping for fall" for the store opening. "We don't know yet," he said, whether the county will require a rezoning of the property, which is zoned regional commercial. The county Technical Review Committee takes up Moore's site plan application at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
