Main Street getting Cal-Mex restaurant

Sol y Luna, the popular California-style Mexican restaurant in Laurel Park Village, is opening a second location in the former Cypress Cellar space below Main Street downtown.

Sol y Luna owners Griselda and Ricardo Gutierrez plan to open their second area restaurant in about a month. They have not set hours yet but Ricardo Gutierrez said they expect to be open until 10 p.m. on weekends.
The space became available less than a month ago when Cypress Cellar closed after 18 years of serving South Louisiana dishes in the below-ground restaurant. Cypress Cellar owner Renee Ellender said she had inquiries about renting the restaurant even before she closed.
"There's been a lot of interest," she said.
