Playhouse extends blitz for two weeks

Still $75,000 shorts of its goal, the Flat Rock Playhouse has extended the deadline of its 30-day blitz with a fundraising goal of $240,000.

The Playhouse launched the 30-day fundraising campaign on June 1. After a successful month, Playhouse officials announced today that they would extend the campaign for an additional two weeks to help meet the goal of $240,000. To date, the Playhouse has raised $165,000. The family of a long-time Playhouse supporter, the late Duane McKibbin, pledged $60,000 to the campaign as a challenge grant. If the Playhouse raises the additional amount in donations by July 14, the theatre will receive the grant, making a total of $300,000.

"We see this amount (of $75,000) as an achievable goal, and feel very positive that we can do this. We've moved the deadline because the campaign is building, and we all feel very optimistic," said Lynn Llewelyn Penny, interim Director of Development of the Playhouse. "We are thrilled with the response from this supportive community. One of our biggest goals along with the fundraising effort was to expand our donor base, and we are starting to gain momentum. Every gift, $25, $50, $100 or more, makes a significant difference."
