Five Points property could see development

An Etowah businessman has purchased the old Boyd Chevrolet used car lot at Five Points. Residents could see car sales there again or maybe a chain restaurant or store.

“My thoughts right now are to lease and maybe have a (car) lot down there on part of the property,” said Mike Hodges, the owner of Boondocks Camper Manufacturing Co. in Etowah. He added that he is open to an option such as a restaurant or retail store.
“Whoever wants to go in there and do something,” he said of the pool of tenants. “I’ve got someone looking at it right now for that.” He said he prefers to lease the property instead of sell it.
Hodges bought the one-acre parcel and 3,270-square-foot commercial building from Cam Boyd in December for $1.15 million, land records show.
