Yam to break ground on 6,000-square-foot facility on Chadwick

Yam will break ground on a new 6,000-square-foot yoga and massage facility at 208 Chadwick Ave. at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

Yam (Yoga and Massage) has been providing professional massage and yoga at its original location on South King Street since October of 2014. As Yam grew, it opened a second dedicated massage location on Third Avenue East in August of 2016.

The new $1 million facility, an all encompassing spa and wellness center, will include both hot and cool yoga rooms, which can be combined via a folding wall for large yoga workshops and other special events, a wet massage room for the purpose of offering body scrubs and wraps, a dedicated couple’s massage room, as well as multiple standard massage rooms. In addition to these amenities, Yam is proud to announce that beyond yoga and massage, the new facility will also include a FAR infrared sauna, cool shower, and cold plunge pool. For those who have to head to work or a date after visiting Yam, showers will be available in the new space as well.

Yam thanked Ken Gordon of Gordon’s Constructive Services for his belief in and support of the Yam dream and expansion. The new facility is being designed by Frank Kelsch of HomeSmith Architecture and will be built by David Mayo and Providence Construction Group. Interior color schemes and flow will be designed and executed by Alexis Deal and Kristine Barbour.

Yam’s million dollar plus facility is set to open in the spring of 2020 and will be home to over fifty yoga teachers, massage therapists, and other wellness practitioners. The public is invited to the groundbreaking. Yam will be giving away a 90-minute massage and a month of unlimited yoga at this event.
