A landowner wants to add a bridal house, pavilion and restrooms to an existing mountaintop event space in northern Henderson County.
Steven C. Edney is seeking the county's OK to add the 2,500-square-foot bridal house, 1,500-square-foot pavilion and restrooms on 98 acres at Case Mountain Place near the Buncombe County line. The county requires a special use permit. According to county planners, the structure would accommodate up to 250 people, including guests, staff and event workers.
Regulations for a small assembly place, as Edney's plan is designated, require a setback area, buffering and lighting mitigation. Edney said he would add 1,193 feet to an existing 1,646-foot road.
The request goes before the county Technical Review Committee on April 7. The committee is meeting by conference call as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.
