Developer seeks OK for long-term care facilities

A developer has applied for a zoning permit to build a 53-bed one-story assisted living center and a three-story 80-bed independent living facility on McMurray Road off South Allen Road.

Charles E. Trefzger Jr., of Agemark Acquisition, of Hickory, and Carolina Commercial Contractors, LLC, submitted an application on Sept. 17 to rezone 8.5 acres from Industrial and Office Institutional District to Planned Residential Development Conditional Zoning. The assisted living center would be 40,000 square feet and the independent living facility would be 80,000 square feet, the city's notice of an upcoming public meeting said. Because the property is in the county, the city would annex the land and designate the zoning.

Hendersonville city planners will hold a neighborhood compatibility meeting on the proposal at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the City Operations Center, 305 Williams St. In neighborhood compatibility meetings, zoning applicants describe the proposed developments and neighboring landowners and the public are able to ask questions.
