Welcome to Spring: Free yoga, exercise tips, kids trail dedication

Free yoga class, information on safe ways to exercise, a kids trail dedication and more are on tap when the Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation and Pardee UNC Health Care kick off the 2021 season with a “Welcome to Spring” program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24.

Here's the schedule:

  • 10-11 a.m. - FREE YOGA class hosted by YAM
  • 11:15 a.m. - Christie Jones MSN, FNP- talk on common injuries that relate to spring: Bee stings, poison ivy, bug bites, etc. Urgent care vs ER.
  • Noon - Kids in Parks: Track Trail – ribbon cutting
  • 12:30 p.m. – PTA Karen Winch to speak on how to prevent injury/proper mechanics as people are getting ready for spring/summer (working in the yard, playing sports with family and friends)
  • 1 p.m. - Farmers Market feature
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Information booths including Friends of the Park at Flat Rock information and sign-up table,
    Pardee informational handouts.

For 2021, there are more than 31 weeks and 62 free classes on the calendar! From the kickoff through Oct. 30, free yoga classes hosted by YAM Hendersonville will take place 10-11 a.m. Saturday and 5:50-6:30 p.m. Thursday. The fourth Saturday of each month is a “themed” day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Topics include Women’s Health, Sports, Back to School, Fall Fun and more.

Launched in 2019, “Pardee in the Park” brings programs to the public to meet Pardee medical providers, staff, get active and learn more about health and wellness topics. There is no cost for the classes. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
