NHHS graduate headlines Rhythm & Brews next week

Country music artist Canaan Cox will headline Rhythm & Brews on Thursday, July 16, in downtown Hendersonville with local band Highway 52 opening the show.

Cox, a North Henderson High School graduate who studied musical theatre at Catawba College, moved to Nashville in 2016 and has since toured internationally. He blends contemporary country, pop and R&B and directs and produces his own music videos.

Highway 52, a favorite on the local music circuit, performs a mix of blues classics, Americana, eclectic covers and original songs. The band features Bill Loftus on guitar, harmonica and vocals; Michael “Country” Carver on guitar and vocals; Paul McIntire on electric violin; Joel Batty on fiddle and mandolin; and Lauren Bandy on standup and electric bass.

Highway 52 takes the stage at 5 p.m., with Cox performing from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Rhythm & Brews is held on the third Thursday of each month from June through October. The free outdoor concert series features local craft beer, cider and wine from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards and Flat Rock Cider Company. Food trucks and a Kids Zone operated by Mike’s on Main will also be on site.
