Transylvania library to show 'Jocassee: Jewel of the Escarpment'

The Transylvania County Library’s Discover Natural Transylvania series will screen the film “Jocassee: Jewel of the Escarpment” at 6:30 pm. Thursday, Feb. 20.

This is the rescheduled presentation for the postponed January Discover Natural Transylvania program. The 27-minute SCETV film is part of the “Expeditions with Patrick McMillan” series which leads viewers to amazing discoveries in the Carolinas and beyond.
“Jocassee: Jewel of the Escarpment” explores the beauty and diverse flora found around Lake Jocasse—one of National Geographic’s last best places on earth. A 7,500-acre reservoir built by Duke Power in 1973, the lake in northwest South Carolina is fed by the waters of Transylvania County, including the Horsepasture, Toxaway, Thompson and Whitewater rivers.
The library will serve popcorn and other light refreshments.

The Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months is provided by the Friends of the Library. For additional information contact Marcy at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
