Registration is now open for the Henderson County Republican Party convention, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Apple Valley Middle School.
Gay Dillard, the North Carolina GOP Vice Chair, will be the special guest speaker at the convention. Local Republican incumbent elected officials and primary election winners are also expected to speak at the meeting, the Republican Party said in a news release. State Sen. Tim Moffitt is the convention chairman.
Precinct meetings will precede the convention. During precinct meetings, delegates and alternates to the convention are elected and those who attend indicate whether they have an interest in attending the 11th Congressional District Republican Convention and/or the state Republican Convention.
The county convention is open to those who are registered to vote in Henderson County and have been registered as Republicans as of Jan. 31, 2026, or who will become 18 years old within 30 days prior to the convention or can prove that he or she moved into Henderson County within 30 days prior to the convention.
